Analytical Review “Financial and Investment Markets of the Global South” (November 2024) Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the economic sustainability of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) economies achieved through the effective macro-economic policy at the 16th BRICS summit in Kazan on October 23. In 2023, the BRICS share in global GDP reached 37.4%, while the G7 share decreased to 29.3%. The average growth of the BRICS economies in 2024–2025 is expected to be at 3.8%, with an increase in global GDP by 3.2%–3.3%. As for the share of the BRICS countries in global GDP at purchasing power parity (PPP), by the end of 2024 it will amount to 36.7%, which also confidently exceeds the share of the G7 countries (about 30%). Despite the fact that the main investors in the economies of the dynamically developing BRICS countries are still leading Western companies, in recent years there has been an increase in investment exchange among the BRICS countries, especially in the green economy. For example, China has come in second place in the list of leading investors in the Brazilian economy. A comparative analysis of these investment portfolios, as well as the success factors of regional leadership of each of the BRICS countries, allows us to assess the investment potential of these countries and the new opportunities that are opening up for investors in various promising sectors of the growing economies of these countries.
